She can walk!

To Fred’s dismay... Someone can walk! But, he takes it really well and only decides to leave after he has had enough.

It is really amazing, in only a short time practicing, Olivia can already walk using furniture or someone’s hand. She even only needs one hand sometimes. In addition, crawling has now set in stronger which also includes crawling up the stairs. I am working on training her how to go backwards down already. I thought this would come some time this fall, but well she is determined.

Other then walking, her other favourite thing is a book. She loves to open and close it or... bite it. She is finally getting her two first teeth... so anything that makes her feel good chewing is worth it to take a break from walking for. Oh... by the way... it seems that my monitor is also tasty... ohh.... got it back... arrrrgg.... there it goes again... ok... now... laptops belong on laps...

She falls a lot currently because she still needs to learn how to bend the knees to get down to the floor again, but for me this has a small advantage. It makes sure that she stays in one area for awhile. She only falls if she is tired and I can always tell now. Some times she screams at me to help her, but I have now stopped coming to the rescue so that she will learn. I just tell that she got up there, she can get down. And I try to show her... she just stares at me. Somehow; however, I think she partially gets it because some times she does what she should do when the environment is relatively risk free for her. She seems to know the difference between the cork floor with a bit of carpet and a stone floor with nothing to protect her.

Well, time to go...
